Jonny Goldstein guided me today through a useful exercise called visual facilitation. Some folks put this in the same category as mind mapping.
- even though it’s another tool for project planning, the color and graphic interpretation stimulated my thinking in ways that checklists or Basecamp features do not; Jonny’s manner of questioning and think-outside-the-box approach added clarity and depth to the exchange.
- externalizing all the projects - professional and personal responsibilities alike - helped to clarify intersections of time and creative needs.
What I gained from it:
I liked this process a lot.
- one focused on my mobile DNC coverage this August;
- and the other focused on an overview of current life goals and needs chunked into larger subject groups like “public speaking gigs”, “domestic/household needs”, or “Friday Fiscal Tickle video series.”
Jonny and I created (2) visual poster boards:
He offered a more colorful and thorough description of his visual facilitation style when our session ended.
